A Place To Bury Strangers

A Place To Bury Strangers are burying The Thin White Duke's genius in a familiar scumf**k scuzz. I realised long ago, though, that Bowie's genius lay in his versatility. As such the covers by Vivian Girls, Warpaint, Carla Bruni, Duran Duran and others collected by Manimal Vinyl for a 42-track comp—the proceeds of which will go to War Child UK—seem more like tributes than pop treason. You only have to hear the hard 'G' APTBS put in "Suffragette City" to know the beauty of this music is that everyone finds their own way in.
